Q235B — chemical composition (heat analysis)
| C max. % | Si max. % | Mn max. % | P max. % | S max. % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.20 | 0.35 | 1.40 | 0.045 | 0.045 |
GB/T 700-2006, as reproduced in the PolyU Chinese Steel Guide, Appendix C. Carbon up to 0.22% is permitted only by agreement with the purchaser.
Q235B — mechanical properties by plate thickness
| Thickness t (mm) | Yield ReH min. (MPa) | Tensile Rm (MPa) | Elongation A min. (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ≤16 | 235 | 370–500 | 26 |
| >16–40 | 225 | 370–500 | 26 |
| >40–60 | 215 | 370–500 | 25 |
| >60–100 | 215 | 370–500 | 24 |
| >100–150 | 195 | 350–500 | 22 |
| >150–200 | 185 | 350–500 | 21 |
GB/T 700-2006. For thickness over 100 mm, the lower tensile limit may be reduced by 20 MPa. For wide strip and plate cut from it, the tensile upper limit is not an acceptance requirement. Use the test piece and orientation required by the ordered standard.
Q235B — impact and delivery condition
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Quality class | B |
| Charpy V-notch test temperature | +20°C |
| Impact energy | 27 J minimum, standard test basis |
| Thin material exception | For thickness <25 mm, omission of impact testing requires the supplier guarantee and purchaser agreement allowed by the standard |
| Delivery | Hot rolled; controlled rolling or normalized delivery where specified in the order |
The impact requirement is specific to Q235B; do not substitute values from Q235A, Q235C or Q235D.
Q235B — 180° cold-bend requirements
| Thickness a (mm) | Longitudinal mandrel diameter d | Transverse mandrel diameter d |
|---|---|---|
| ≤60 | 1.0a | 1.5a |
| >60–100 | 2.0a | 2.5a |
| >100 | By agreement | By agreement |
a is specimen thickness; bend specimen width is 2a. Test requirements and sampling follow GB/T 700-2006.
Surface & processing requirements
Include the downstream process in your enquiry so that the material, dimensions and surface can be reviewed together.
| Cut-to-size requirements | Final length and width, cutting method and edge condition. |
|---|---|
| Forming / fabrication | Describe the downstream forming, pressing, profiling or fabrication operation. |
| Finishing requirements | State whether material will be painted, coated or otherwise finished after delivery. |
| Plate / sheet handling | Confirm lifting method, stack height and protection of edges and surfaces. |
Production & processing
Define the material and the downstream process together. Cutting, slitting or finishing requirements should form part of the order specification.
Material review
Grade, dimensions and surface requirements are checked against the enquiry.
Processing scope
Agree cutting, slitting or forming requirements and the finished product tolerances.
Order inspection
Define acceptance criteria, identification and the requested documentation.
Stock & warehouse
Hot rolled, galvanized and color coated material in warehouse settings. Ask our team to confirm current availability for your grade, dimensions and quantity.
Quality inspection & documentation
Agree the acceptance criteria and required documents before confirming your order.

Frequently asked questions
What should I include in my enquiry?
Send the product, grade or standard, dimensions, quantity, required finish and destination. Describe the end use if the specification is still being developed.
Can I request a particular size or finish?
Yes, include your required size and finish in the enquiry. Availability and any processing requirements must be confirmed in the quotation.
How are minimum order and lead time confirmed?
They depend on grade, dimensions, processing and quantity. We confirm them for the particular order rather than publish one figure for every product.
What documents should I request?
State the material test document, inspection scope and other purchasing documents required for your project. Agree these with the order.
